Project overviewdf

METHOD is a contained, psychological horror film set in the insular world of a university’s theatre department. When a narcissistic acting professor casts herself opposite her students in Shakespeare's bloody Titus Andronicus, her provocative methods unravel the production, pulling both her and her gifted protégé into a spiral of ambition, obsession, and self-destruction.

At its heart, METHOD is an exploration of the cost to women who pursue art in a patriarchal world. Drawing inspiration from Barbara Creed’s “Monstrous Feminine,” the film pulls back the curtain on how internalized patriarchy, and the attempts to combat it, can create both expansive and monstrous results. It’s both a satire of the toxic insularity of performance education and an unsettling portrait of female rivalry, desire, and generational inheritance.

Tonally, METHOD blends biting irreverence with psychological unease, using humor and horror to destabilize the audience before plunging them into claustrophobic terror. With the generational conflict and female-forward eroticism of Black Swan and TÁR, the unrelenting ambition of Pearl, and the body-horror strangeness of The Substance, METHOD follows in the tradition of A24-style elevated horror: intelligent, unnerving, and culturally resonant.

We plan to shoot in Toledo, Ohio, leveraging the micro-budget indie model we honed on our first feature LONE WOLVES. With Ohio’s burgeoning tax incentives, and an experienced, tight-knit team, we’ll stretch limited resources into a dynamic, cinematic experience.

METHOD is a female-driven, thematically urgent, and unapologetically bold film that doesn’t just scare—it provokes. The pursuit of art and ambition under patriarchy can turn women into monsters, both in the stories they tell and in the lives they live. With horror, humor and a dash of irreverence, we dive deep into the rivalry between two ambitious women attempting to embody agency and claim power in a culture that consistently attempts to exclude them from both.
